We Can’t Lose Here

If I had it my way, we’d do away with the Electoral College, winner-take-all voting, and gerrymandering altogether.

Unfortunately, I’m not King Jarrek (yet), so we have to face a political reality that’s as frustrating as it is simple: not all votes are weighted equally.

In 2026, only a handful of congressional districts (10-20) will decide who controls the U.S. House of Representatives. Colorado’s 8th Congressional District (CD8) is one of them. And if Democrats lose here, we almost certainly lose the House.

Here’s why:

CD8 is Colorado’s newest and most competitive district, stretching from the northern suburbs of Denver up through the farmlands and small towns of Weld and Larimer Counties. This is a unique district, with a mix of suburban, exurban, and rural residents. Over 40% of the district is Latino, and nearly one out of every three households rely on Medicaid.

But this district has been hit especially hard by Donald Trump’s rhetoric and policies. Just recently, he canceled over $30 million in clean energy funding that would have created local jobs and protected our communities. ICE raids have left families afraid to leave their homes. The climate of fear and division he’s sown has real consequences here.

Democrats lost CD8 by only 2,500 votes in 2024, the second-closest House district lost to a Republican. A heartbreakingly thin margin. And it’s exactly why we can’t wait until next fall to act. We must win here if we are going to win back the House.

That’s why Trust Brigade is already on the ground. We’re canvassing, training volunteers, and having the kinds of conversations that move voters to lasting action. Our goals are simple:

ree

●     15,000 deep canvassing conversations by Election Day

●     1,000+ volunteers trained and engaged

●     $400,000 raised to power the fieldwork, data, and logistics that make it all possible

But we can’t do it alone.

Because we can’t lose here.

Not this time.
