Nancy and her partners talked to a 17 year old who, after completing the story exchange, is excited to vote. Nancy and her partners were able to info the teenager how he could register to vote.

Creating Human Connection

Caitlin spoke to a handicap man who was in his wheelchair on his porch. During the story exchange, Caitlin learned that within the last year the man had lost his SNAP benefits, medicaid, and had cuts to his social security. Caitlin said it was a highly emotional conversation for both her and the man. She added that he was deeply appreciative that we wanted to listen.

Claire spoke to a family that recently got their green card. They are strongly anti-Trump but they can't vote even though they wish they could.

First Time Voter Activated

Sandra spoke to a mother and son. While the mother was not able to speak English, the son was able to translate between Sandra and the mother. The son said that even though he despises Donald Trump, he has not really given voting a serious thought. Ater Sandra shared her story and how close the congressional race is the son reassured Sandra that he would vote in the June primary and in November because he now knows he can help stop Trump by getting Gabe Evans out of office.

Lydia spoke to a woman who shared that she was not going to vote. However, after Lydia and the woman exchanged stories and they discussed how narrow Gabe Evans won the last election, the woman committed to vote. The woman is highly concerned about the cost of living and how her family is going to get by.

Jim spoke to an Iranian man who voted for Trump in the last election but has come to regret his vote. The voter shared with Jim that he felt disappointed in Trump because Trump has not done much to support the Iranian people.

Portia spoke with a hispanic mother and son. Although the mother could not speak english very well, the son was able to translate. The son shared that while he is very pro-Trump, his mother does not like Trump. The son was thankful for Portia taking the time to listen to him and his mother. Lastly, the son said he will certainly help his mother vote this November.

Dave spoke to a woman who has not voted in many years. While the woman was unhappy with Trump, ICE, and the current war in Iran, she is not sure if she would vote. Her and Dave had a pleasent conversation in which the woman shifted from a 0 to a 3 on the likelyhood to vote scale.

Jim spoke to a female voter who is worried about her family members being harrassed by ICE based on their race. After the story exchange, the voter went from an 8 to a 10 on the likelyhood to vote scale.

Coming Back from Despair

Izzie spoke with a former Trump supporter who has lost faith in both political parties. The woman expressed deep frustration with the Medicaid system and exhaustion from her caregiving responsibilities. However, after Izzie shared her own story and highlighted the inspiring candidates running in HD19, the voter’s enthusiasm shifted, moving her from a 0 to a 1 on the likelihood-to-vote scale.
